There a hundreds of physical therapy types and techniques that have been used to treat whiplash.  PT can be an effective treatment for all stages of whiplash, only if the practitioner knows what to do and when.  As an example, out of any 100 PT's in my home state, the breakdown is as follows:

  • 25 should never treat whiplash due to lack of training
  • 25 should only treat the easiest cases due to lack of training
  • 25 are OK to treat mild whiplash in the first 1-2 months due to lack of training
  • 20 are good to treat the mild-moderate cases
  • 5 are qualified to treat the most severe cases

Are you seeing a trend?  Just like in any other area of medicine, training is key.
